Dear .....,
In a few weeks it will be "Mardi Gras".  It would be great if you could come and stay with us.  I have asked my parents and they said you could stay for the whole week. 
In our town there are a lot of fun things to do.  Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday in English.  So, there are a lot of delicious foods and sweets. There are food trucks selling all sorts of food in our town.  My mother will make crêpes, these are the traditional pancakes.  After dinner, we will get dressed up in a silly costume.  We can go into town and people will give us sweets.  This is similar to your Halloween tradition. There are people playing music and street entertainers.
I hope you can come.  It would be so much fun to celebrate Mardi Gras with you.
