Malcolm was born on May 19th , 1925 in Omaha Nebraska.  In 1946, Malcolm X  was sent  (was condemned, or was sentenced)  to eight to ten years in prison.
He changed his name into El-Hajj   as he converted to islam.  He was the spokesman of the organisation. 
His detractors accused him of racism and violence but he was called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history.
He was a controversial African-American Muslim minister, public speaker, and human rights activist.  He was shot in 1965, in New York as he was delivering a speech.
