The Empire State Building is a skyscraper in New York City, United States. It mesures 381 meters tall and has 103 floors.
For forty-one years it was the tallest building in the world. The Empire State Building was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates. It was built at a time when many people were trying to make the world's tallest building, but the Empire State Building won.
It was built in 410 days during the Great Depression. The president of the United States (at that time) Herbert Hoover turned on the lights for the first time on May the 1rst 1931.
